Intimacy Direction for Live Performance

Before specialising in intimacy direction, Lucy forged a career in theatre-making and directing. As such, she is passionate about research and development of safer methodologies for intimacy practice in live performance whilst holding space for experimentation, spontaneity and lightness in the process. Her credits include West End, regional and touring musicals such as Bonnie and Clyde, White Christmas, Pretty Woman and Bare: A Pop Opera. She recently worked on 'All's Well That Ends Well' at the Globe, directed by Chelsea Walker.

She is soon to begin work on the new musical 'Midnight Cowboy' at The Southwark Playhouse.

Lucy offers specialist support and consultation for intimacy in devised and improvised theatre processes. She also leads workshops internationally on the complexities of navigating spontaneous and improvised intimacy and is keen to hear from anyone who wants to explore this further in practice.

‘I’ve worked with many intimacy coordinators throughout my career on various projects and Lucy manages to strike the perfect balance between keeping the safety and protection of the performers whilst not losing the freedom and ability to explore. It can be a tough combination to find as for an actor you don’t want the moments of intimacy to lose their sexual and sensual emotion, but Lucy’s technique allows this to stay in tact whilst building the logistics safely’
